About Rugby Jim

A retired gentleman of a certain age (OK, an old man) was pondering how to spend his retirement time more productively.  He wanted to help make the world a better place.

The problem was that he was not what you would call a “joiner”.  Having worked for many years with large corporations and schools, he now avoided joining and organizations that had officers, minutes, agendas, and worst of all, stretch goals.

His wife, Connie, an accomplished quilter and all around great person, suggested he learn to crochet and make rag rugs.  His immediate reaction was:  That’s nuts!

Hmmm…on second thought that would allow him to use his creative side; it could be done at home; and it would occupy his time in a productive manner.

Then it dawned on him.  Even better yet, he would make and sell the rugs, and donate every penny from the proceeds to one of his two favorite charities:  Doctors Without Borders and Operation Smile.

At that moment Jim Thompson became Rugby Jim.  His mission:  To Save the world one rug at a time.

Next page:  How you too can help save the world one rug at a time!  If Rugby Jim can learn to crochet, so can you!  It’s just not that hard.
